Ritterschaft für Professor Sid Watkins

In Anerkennung der Dienste des ehemaligen medizinischen Deligierten, seine Leistungen für den Motorsport, wird in einem ersten Schritt derzeit Online-Petition durchgeführt. Freunde, Fans, Fahrer, schon viele Hundert Personen haben sich beteidigt. Der Formel 1 Champion von 19996 Damon Hill, der Gewinner mehrerer Läufe Johnny Herbert, Prodive Boss und ehemaliger BAR-Teamchef David Richards, Pat Symonds, Martin Whitmarsch, und viele andere haben bisher schon diese Petition unterschrieben.

Professor Sid Watkins war 25 Jahre lang der oberste offizielle Mediziner der Formel 1 und verantwortlich für die lebensrettung vieler Fahrer und anderer Personen bei den Grand Prixs. Er arbeitete unermüdlich für die Sicherheit des Motorsports, lange Zeit als FIA-Experte an der Spitze des Sicherheitscommites. Er ist eine der Seelen ohne die der Motorsport langweilig wäre.

In einem 2. Schritt wird man versuchen auch die politisch notwendige Unterstützung zu erlangen.
